The ES Newborn Prep Guide

welcome

GET TO KNOW THE artist

Welcome! I'm Liz and I specialize in fine art newborn, family, and wedding photography.  When I'm not running my business, you can find me chasing around our four kiddos. My husband, Sam is my biggest supporter. I wouldn't be able to do what I do without him!

My goal to tell your story and create pieces of art that transport you back to this moment in your life. Life moves quickly and the sweet  newborn days are so fleeting.

Thank you for trusting me with this valuable time. It is such a gift and I find so much joy in documenting it for you.

Location

90 E Grant St. Lebanon, OR 97355

The parking lot is on Grant St. You will go in the red door that has Victory Electric's Logo on it. Go straight ahead through the hall and turn left. My studio has a sign with my name on it.

The Process

My studio will be extra warm for the session. Around 80 degrees is usually the perfect temperature to keep baby comfortable and sleepy. I recommend wearing light clothing so you can stay comfortable during the session.

I have a client closet available that includes dresses for moms sizes xs-xxl as well as younger kids clothes. Come dressed in something that you would be okay being photographed in if you don't like my options. Neutral clothing photographs the best and looks timeless. I recommend wearing comfortable, flowy clothing.

I don't have a closet for dads so he should come dressed in what he plans to wear. A neutral button up shirt with slacks or a little more casual with a Henley and jeans is perfect.

Don't forget about hair and nails! We will be doing some close ups of you holding baby, so make sure your nails are clean and trimmed.

I recommend light makeup to complement the simple, fresh feel of the newborn stage. False lashes photograph beautifully if you want to go a little extra.

Please interact with your baby as much as possible to keep them awake for at least one hour prior to our session to ensure they are nice and sleepy when you arrive. Without this, we may spend more time getting the baby to fall asleep and less time photographing them. Try giving them a bath or play time to keep them awake.

Plan on giving a good long feeding right before you leave for the studio. Expect to feed them more at some point during the session. Usually they just need a little top off here and there to help them drift off again. I have a bottle warmer at the studio if you need it.

Babies hair tends to get greasy quickly so take time to give their hair a wash the day of the session.

Please have baby dressed in a clean diaper and something easy to take off without pulling over their head.  I have a variety of wraps and headbands available for you to choose from.

If you are nursing, please avoid eating anything spicy that might upset baby’s stomach for 24 hours prior to our session.

Please have a pacifier on hand if you are comfortable with them using one. This can be a GAME CHANGER.
